I am a Speech Language Pathologist providing language services to Autistic children in grades 5-8. All of the students benefit from sensory regulation activities such as swinging, playing music, or kneading Play-Dough. These sensory activities prepare the students to focus on academic tasks, however access to grade level Social Studies, ELA, Math, or Science is limited due to a lack of engaging hands on manipulatives that stimulate the interests of each student. It is our hope that we can create a regulating sensory space, as well as create and support grade level curriculum goals by providing hands on lessons at a modified pace so that our students have the time to learn new vocabulary and gain new experiences.
