In order to help students increase their math skills, students will be able to wear a pedometer and check steps taken throughout the day. Students will be able to keep steps recorded in a data notebook along with the time of day. This activity not only assists with general math concepts, but also organizational skills. Students can compare data, create addition and subtraction questions with peers, and encourage each other with walking during recess. Hopefully, this walking assignment will additionally create a love of walking and enjoying the great outdoors.
