My students are very special!. They come to school very enthusiastic about Theater and performing, Although they come from the poorest families in the country according to statistics. Cleveland Metropolitan School District students come from impoverished communities who witness daily gun violence, gang activity, domestic violence, and many other tragic events. The level of maturity and strength that they display at such an early age is remarkable. They deal with some of the worst issues imaginable, yet still muster up the courage to come to school and do their best. The students love drama because at least once a week, for 55 minutes, they get to just be kids. They have a pass to be goofy, silly, and be someone other than themselves for a short period of time. My students are strong, resilient, streetwise, and above all, survivors. They encounter everything from hunger to bullies so fearlessly.
