I teach an energetic group of 3rd graders in Novato, California. Many of my students are English Language Learners who come from hardworking families and bring a wealth of culture and curiosity to our classroom. While resources are limited, their enthusiasm for learning is limitless.
Our classroom is a place where mistakes are celebrated, effort is valued, and every student is encouraged to see themselves as readers, mathematicians, scientists, and creators. My students thrive when they have access to hands-on materials, visuals, and collaborative activities that make learning both challenging and fun.
As an Equity Focus School, we don’t always have the same opportunities as wealthier districts, but we make the most of what we do have. With extra support, my students can build the skills, confidence, and joy in learning that will stay with them for years to come.
