Many of the students in my class are reading and writing below grade level expectations this year. My goal is to give them effective small and whole group reading and writing instruction to help them them bridge this learning gap and read fluently this year.
I will use the magnet letters, whiteboards, reading pointers, and highlighter tape in my small guided reading groups as students build words and track text (Reading Foundational Skills 1.1.3, Language 1.1.2d). The easel will be used in whole group reading and writing lessons as we create anchor charts, create shared writing pieces (Writing 1.1.5), and practice reading strategies as we read complex texts together (Reading Literature 1.1.1).
