"From guts to glory" is a motto that demonstrates my students' progression through a year of science. I am a 9th-12th grade science teacher at an alternative high school. PACE stands for Peoples Alternative for Continuing Education. We live in an impoverished area on an Indian Reservation. We are a public school district with a minimal budget. Our student demographics are primarily Hispanic, with a blend of Native American, Filipino, Black, Caucasian, and many culturally mixed children. Our main family income is public assistance with agricultural work as a second. Monetarily we are very needy, culturally we are very wealthy.
