In our 6th Grade ELA classroom, we focus our time and energy on creating equitable and unique experiences in the world of reading, writing, and public speaking. Our students have continued to show time and time again, wonderful creativity and strive to go beyond what is initially tasked to share their ideas and passions about various topics, texts, and questions. In just three years, I have seen these students help campaign for a school musical, win 1st Place at multiple debate competitions, and work to become published writers in just the first few months of school via YoungWriters. Very rarely do I have a lunch period to myself, as students come to our room to help with various tasks in the room, work on independent projects, or simply take a break in a space that they both enjoy and thrive in!
