I was the Teacher-Librarian in the suburbs of San Diego, serving 2,000 students. My job was eliminated in 2025, and I am back in the classroom teaching long-term English Learners and brand new English Learners. I donated my classroom library to the school library, so I am building from scratch right now. Our school has a significant refugee population from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Mexico, and I have been working hard to welcome them to our school. They need books that will improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. These are the sweetest kids I have worked with in my career--they are so grateful to be in the United States, they care about learning, but they struggle with their reading skills.

About my class
