The students in my small groups are first and second graders. These students are receiving tier three interventions because they are years below grade level. Most of the students started off the year on letter names and letter sounds. The majority have made great gains and some have even been able to transition out of interventions. They are great students who need explicit instruction in foundational skills through engaging and collaborative lessons.
