The students in the Hopkins Dance Program are an eclectic group of dancers that come from all over South Pinellas County. Some of them have dance experience, but most come to Hopkins with no formal training. Dance training can be expensive and many of our young dancers do not have the luxury of attending private studios. This is one of the many reasons that Hopkins Dance is special. Dancers that attend our program have an 86-minute dance class every day. At no cost to them.
Having the opportunity to study dance in school during their academic day is extremely important. Many studies show that physical activity boosts academic performance. Students who are more active demonstrate greater attention, have faster cognitive processing speed, and perform better on standardized tests than those who are less active.
With every year, their self confidence grows along with their artistry. Dance is their place to be brave!
