I teach in an elementary school in Pennsylvania, working with grades kindergarten through sixth. Due to budget cuts, starting next year I will be the librarian at both the elementary and high schools, working with students up to twelfth grade. This is a high poverty area, with students of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Very few come from a stable home life, most deal with heavy and hard issues that have made them tough at a young age. They are good kids; I have seen who they truly are and unfortunately how they have been affected by decisions they had no control over.
