I am a 15+ year special education teacher in a special day class for 1st through 2nd grade students who live with extensive support needs. Our classroom mascot is the California Tiger Salamander so my class is the Special Salamanders. Currently, we are a class of 8 students, myself the SDC teacher, and 3 paraeducators. My students' developmental areas of need are supported to increase their exceptional growth and overall independence.
We learn functional academic and social emotional skills through daily activities in the classroom and across school settings. I use the Unique curriculum for core academic instruction and Whole Body Listening for social-emotional learning.
