My students are 5th grade academically gifted students from Louisiana. We are working towards our school's leadership goals through "The Leader in Me", a program sponsored locally to help develop the leadership potential in all students. We began our newspaper last year, and want to expand our circulation and our content to focus on articles planned, written, and published by the students themselves. These materials will make it easier for our class to use the school computer lab for composing, editing, and revising our work. The camera will allow the writers to add photos that relate to the articles, and the printer ink will allow us to produce more copies to share with our school and community. Our goal is to produce at least four full issues this year, with all of the planning, publishing, editing and printing to be done by the students themselves.
