I work with amazing Pre-K to 5th grade students with unique abilities. Some are autistic, some are nonverbal, and others have speech delays, but all are eager to communicate. My job is to help them feel heard and empowered, even if they don’t use words. They express themselves in incredible ways through gestures, AAC devices, and sensory tools.
Sensory-based materials like fidget toys, textured objects, and communication boards help engage and support their learning. These resources build confidence, reduce anxiety, and foster independence. Unfortunately, we lack many essential materials.
