In my 6th grade classroom/school, we have a 1-to-1 iPad initiative through Title I funding and Apple, which is awesome. However, there is a lack headphones readily available for every one of my students with disabilities. Therefore this means that my students can't take full advantage of using the apps and programs necessary for student success. I teach Math and Social Studies, and my students with learning disabilities often times need items read to them as an option due to not being able to read/perform on grade level. I often use my own funds, but at times this can be difficult. Individual pairs of headphones can increase students success; they would have the opportunity to complete required assignments on their instructional level. Some lessons may require them to watch a video or perform a task in sites such as BrainPop, USA Test Prep, IXL, Digit Wiz, Teacher created QR Lessons (take self notes), iStation and Study Jams, just to name a few to meet their individual needs.
