My students are great kids that are hindered by their socioeconomic status. They attend a school that uses technology, as many of the classrooms are equipped with smartboards. The one thing that they do not have access to is a library. For some reason our high school was built without a library, so the students do not have access to books at school. Many of their parents cannot afford to pay to buy the students books; nor can they afford the late fees that come with checking books out at the public library, so they do not allow students to check out books from the library. My classroom is the only place where these students can access books.
