I love teaching fourth grader. These students are just beginning to understand their place in the world and reading books that are influential to their learning. Being a new teacher, I haven't been able to create as diverse of a classroom library as I would want. Children need to be emersed in good literature. We need need a wide selection of mentor texts to support the new Common Core standards. These mentor text and nonfiction books will fill our bookshelves with rich reading materials that will inspire them to read. Giving these books to our class will enable me to be able to teach lessons that clearly demonstrate and inspire love of reading and writing, through great literature. I love getting them so excited about a book that they are begging me to read more. That is the power of a great book, and being a teacher, I get to make that happen, and open a whole new world.
Reading changes lives and inspires leaders.
It empowers every child when they see themselves in the books they read! There is no greater gift a teacher can give a student than the love of learning and begin them on their journey through great literature.
