My homeless students need basic clothing items (under garments, socks, etc.) and hygiene products (deodorant, soap, etc.) to ensure their comfort and warmth, while they learn and attend school. Students often come to me with a request of various items to assist them in coping and dealing with their circumstances. So many of my students have experienced chronic homelessness, eviction, and/or shelter life, which leaves them without basic items that every child deserves. Items that they do have are often lost, damaged, or left behind. This project would allow students to restore their dignity and feel the warmth of not only, the clothing items, but the tremendous act of generosity.
