My students live in a diverse, urban area with many challenges, however, the goal is to provide student opportunities to learn and to interact with the world around them. Funding concerns for supplies and new content materials is a major issue in my diverse, urban school district. In addition, many of the students do not have the finances to pay to attend a field trip to cover the bus and we are competing against established school programs for funding. At Lowell High School, we have over 3,000 students consisting of economically disadvantaged students 38.8%, students with disabilities 10.2%, English Language Learners 11.9%, and 66.7% of our entire student population is eligible for a free or reduced lunch.
