My students will utilize these instruments with the "GamePlan" Curriculum by Kriske/Delelles , "Mallet Madness" by Artie Almeida, and various culturally appropriate and enriching materials. This curriculum is cross-curricular, uses high quality children's literature, and helps promote literacy and critical thinking. Thinking outside of the box is always apparent in the music class setting.
The children are drawn to the instruments! They cannot wait to play them in music class. A classroom set of instruments helps to keep them focused, active, and on task. Behaviors are instantly more positive when the instruments are in use. Additionally, the children are often paired with a partner. This will promote stronger working relationships and empathy for others.
With these classroom instruments, our diverse school will continue to transition into a positive, peaceful and engaged community.
