I have a beautifully diverse population of 60 curious 5th grade math students, in a Title 1 school. At Morrison, we believe that "by cultivating learners who are curious, competent, socially-conscious, and self-assured, all students can and will live purposeful and successful lives in our increasingly complex and interconnected world."
Our classroom chooses to embrace a culture that is progressive, rigorous, supportive, and engaging, that envelopes a genuine sense of community.
My students take ownership and pride over their own learning experiences, goal setting, and fostering a safe and equitable learning environment. Students organically freely share their reasoning, thoughts, and opinions without fear of being ridiculed. They understand that mistakes are a part of learning and that our classroom is a safe environment in which they can make these mistakes.
