My students come from a variety of backgrounds and bring unique experiences to the table. My school is in a primarily low-income, rural area. We live in a unique valley surrounded by mountains and some of my students have had the opportunity to explore the area through hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. However, many of my students have not had those opportunities. Because our community is small, my students do not have access to museums or galleries and are not exposed to many careers that are more common in urban areas.
My students love to learn and take full advantage of every opportunity they get to explore and interact with engaging materials. What they lack in experience, they make up for with enthusiasm and energy.
