I teach at an ELD and 11th grade at an urban public high school in San Francisco. Some of my students were born in the city where I teach, and some just came here last month. My students come to me with a range of knowledge, interests, skills, and experiences which I try to honor and build upon in my class.
My 11th grade students are part of a pathway focused on social justice and leadership which uses a critical theory/ethnic studies framework to develop students as community activists and leaders among their peers.
I love teaching my students because they are funny, smart, hard-working, creative, and cool. My students are soccer players, math whizzes, child carers, video game geniuses, singers, dancers, poets, cooks, computer experts, and community leaders.
