Our students are all English Language Learners, recently arrived and pursuing the American Dream. They have immigrated from countries such as Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cape Verde, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guinea, Eritrea, Somalia, Ivory Coast, Vietnam, China, and dozens of other countries. They live in Boston's toughest neighborhoods, yet they come to school with a determination not generally seen in other inner-city schools. Our students have the triple challenge of learning English while preparing for state-wide standardized exams (MCAS), as well as trying to graduate before they "age out" of the public school system.
