I educate and prepare a wonderful group of intellectually disabled middle school students, to compete in our global society. These students have been classified, based on IQ scores as intellectually disabled. I often question the validity and reliability of these scores due to the fact that the majority of my students participate in collaborative learning groups using differentiated instruction methods to accommodate their learning differences, on a daily basis. Our school is on a 2 hour block schedule which allows students to rotate in various content learning centers and receive individualized instruction as needed. We educate special needs and general education students. The majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We are also a Title 1 Magnet school. Our school is also one of the main district assigned schools for special needs students with a variety of disabilities.
