My third-graders, who speak twelve different languages, are very energetic, enthusiastic learners. They attend a K-5 school in a very diverse town in the Midwest. My students help me build a strong classroom community. They support each other and recognize each other's accomplishments, often with a burst of applause. My students have a wide range of skills and abilities and they value each other's strengths. For example, a student who has difficulty with verbal expression is recognized for his excellent drawing ability. My students benefit from varied, interactive learning experiences that help them all make use of their strengths, learn from each other, and from me.
