One of the goals in our school is to get students to use technology to enhance their learning during small group and whole class instruction. Our first grade currently has a set of iPads that we share amongst three classes. When the iPads come to us, the students become increasingly engaged in the learning process where I become a facilitator instead of a lead instructor. Students are able to create projects and become more independent learners.
Headphones will help students focus on their projects by lowering the noise level, while Stylus pens will help students put their thoughts into the written/drawn form on the iPad. Students will begin with individual research to develop background knowledge. They will then share and create their projects in small groups. After the students create their life cycle presentation on the iPad, they will share their presentations with the whole class by projecting them via Apple TV.
