I am requesting resources in order to build a sensory room within our school for students who need a quiet space for sensory processing or to calm themselves when escalated. The requested materials include a sand tray, weighted lap pads, yoga balls, pillows and sensory toys and games. These materials will be set up in a special room where children with sensory needs or behavioral challenges will be able to use the room with supportive adults in order to meet their individual needs. It will be a positive space to help students regulate in order to help increase successes within their classrooms.
Donating to this project will be so important in meeting the significant needs of our students. The bright lights, sounds, smells and other triggers of a classroom can be completely overwhelming to children who have sensory needs or behavioral challenges. This space will be a therapeutic location for students to feel safe and secure and help them self regulate to their surroundings. Please help by donating to this project!
