My "classroom" travels between 2 public schools in Alexandria VA. As an itinerant adapted physical education (APE) teacher, I provide specialized instruction in PE for students with special needs. It is my passion making sure EACH and EVERY student is successful and develop the skills necessary to stay active for a lifetime!
My small group classes (5-10 students with increased adult support) are where I find myself most frequently building and pulling resources from every which way to create new ways for them to interact with the environment, learn, and be active (as the APE department does not allot a budget or equipment supply). Woodley Hills ES is a home for both an Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and an Intellectual Disabilities Severe (IDS) classroom. I have 2 classes consisting of students from those settings. My small group at Fort Hunt ES consists of students from the Enhanced Autism classroom.
