My students are learning to speak Spanish at a public magnet school. They are bussed in from all areas of the county to take advantage of this opportunity. These students must work twice as hard to keep up with the rest of the county who is learning in English. They learn everything students in 4th grade learn, but in Spanish. In third grade English instruction begins. These students don't know a word of Spanish when they enter kindergarten but when they leave our school they are bilingual citizens. Some of these students are not reading at grade level in English (and sometimes in Spanish) so we have some intervention programs in place. We need headphones to really be able to take advantage of these online programs. I've tried the dollar headphones and they just don't work well in a class with so many students. Everyone needs a good pair so they can hear the lessons clearly without hearing other noise.
