Many of my students are starting school significantly behind their more privileged counterparts. My students are just learning to love language and books. They are given free choice to read books in the library throughout the school day.
Including interesting, engaging and developmentally appropriate literature in the classroom library will get my children excited about learning to read. I am asking for fifteen alphabet books including Alphabet Adventure, The Z Was Zapped A Play in Twenty-Six Acts, and
LMNO Peas. I am also requesting a complete set of sandpaper letters.
The gift of new alphabet books written for this age group in mind will get my students thinking about letters as an important part of their lives and inspire them to explore words, phonics and foundational literacy concepts. Without the generosity of donors like you, these students will indeed be left behind.
