We call ourselves the 4th grade SCHOLARS because of our hunger for knowledge and excitement to go on to college! We are in need of a projector to help us see visuals during lessons, apply our knowledge, as well as becoming familiar with incorporating technology with our education.
Our school is located on the East Side of Detroit, in the most dangerous zip code in the country. All students live well below the poverty line and receive two meals a day at school for free. The meals our students get at school are often the only meals they are receiving. Unfortunately, it is highly gang populated area, and our students are extremely at risk youth. Because of this, education is truly their ticket out of poverty. The 4th grade Stars are COLLEGE BOUND and working hard to get college ready, despite the odds against them. We are NOT a statistic that society decides the destiny of - we are in control of our own educational destiny!
