My goal as a reading teacher is to help every child develop a love for reading. Because so many children come to the fifth grade saying they don't like to read, it is my job to show them my love for reading with a read-aloud every day they walk into my classroom. Reading is the foundation of everything we do in fifth grade. Read-alouds allow me to model fluent, expressive reading while helping my students develop comprehension skills.
Good readers make good writers and good spellers. "The more you read the better you read" is the quote we live by in my classroom, and as a teacher I must make sure to provide the resources to develop those good readers.
These books will help me give my children a variety of resources to use to teach and reinforce our fifth grade standards. I know that children need to hear books read aloud correctly and expressively to develop that desire to read. We would greatly appreciate any and all support for our classroom. These books will continue to benefit students for many years to come while fostering a love for reading!
