My 2nd grade students attend an inner city public school that consists of low income families. Sadly, many of the students lack the resources and support they need to flourish. Despite their home environment they are very inquisitive and have a strong desire to learn. School is the only place that offers opportunities for students to explore, interact, experience and learn what their financially well off peers learn at such an earlier age. Unfortunately, with the lack of cuts and funding our schools are having difficulty providing the necessary provisions to help our students prepare and compete in the 21st century.
My main goal is to foster a love of learning, increase students abilities, develop more cooperative and team building learning activities, and provide a range of differentiated opportunities for students to understand and grasp concepts through various learning styles and experiences.
