My kindergartners need alternative seating for their growing, moving bodies to stay focused on task. Young students trying to meet the demands of today's early childhood curriculum need an outlet for their energy. Their bodies are made to move! If their bodies cannot do what they are meant to do, their brains cannot do what we are asking them to do. I would use these alternative seating choices in my classroom for students who need an outlet for their pent up energy, while focusing on the task at hand. The stability balls and wobble chairs would be beneficial not only to children with special needs, but to all students who have to meet the demands of school. Long days and little bodies mean we need a variety of seating choices.
