The first words I hear from my students when they enter the room is, "I hate reading!" Of course they do, they haven't had the pleasurable experience of reading and finishing a novel they enjoyed. My students come from low income homes, many of them are from migrant families and they have to help to take care of their family when they get home. Many of my students don't have the resources at home to obtain books and don't have access to transportation to the local library so whatever resources I can afford them will only benefit them. Through games and reading materials specifically geared toward my student interests, each one of my 118 students this year have completed a book they loved and gained reading skills they had not yet mastered.
