These children come from two towns in the mid-west that averages 500 people. While some of the parents are farmers or factory workers, at least half come from a poverty stricken home. Their understanding of other cultures, even in their own nation, is very limited. They are so focused on the day to day living that they don't even see a need to understand life outside of their own community. With that in mind, they are also wonderful, bright, and caring with those they do know. I have found that once I get to talking about other places, they have a desire to learn more.
