My Kinder Kats are in a Title-1 school located in a high-poverty area, with nearly 100% of our students living in very low-income households. My students face daily struggles that individuals living in higher income households may not ever have to deal with - hunger, homelessness, gang violence, abuse, and racial injustices among many other common issues.
Regardless of their struggles, my students come to school eager to play, read, write, explore and learn. They love reading, working on projects, exploring in work stations, and interacting with each other.
