"In kindergarten, you can learn how to be a citizen of the world." -Jill Lepore My classroom is full of bright, energetic, fun-loving kindergartners who are excited about school and learning. As their teacher I work to create an environment in which they use their differences to master the basic concepts and skills they will use for the rest of their lives. I want my students to become some of the best citizens of the world.
In my classroom students know learning is hard work, but hard work can be fun. Kindergartners need to use a variety of tools and toys that will help them learn the valuable academic skills of counting, reading, spelling, and adding and subtracting. But more importantly they use these tools and time to learn the skills of working together, taking turns, waiting patiently, helping friends, and resolving conflicts.
I know with the right tools my kindergartners can be amazing citizens of the world.
