We were fortunate enough to have an Osmo donated to our classroom, however we do not have an iPad to use it. The Osmo is a great hands on, interactive learning kit for students that not only focuses on ELA and Math, but also problem-solving, coding, and much more. With the purchase of an iPad, we would be able to use the Osmo during small group and centers time, as well as during our time in our Innovation Space room. It would promote cooperative learning and collaboration amongst our students.
An iPad would also allow us to have access to the many learning apps available to work on individual IEP goals, provide another source to do research, as well as electronic and audio books. It would also allow our students who struggle with writing their responses due to various special needs an opportunity to communicate their answer through video.
The addition of a Chromebook for our classroom would provide our students with a set of 6. We currently have 5 for a classroom of 23 students. The addition of 1 Chromebook will allow us to have a technology center during small group time. The Chromebooks will be used daily for access to the internet for research, phonics and decoding practice, Accelerated Reader and Dream Box, as well as working in Google Drive.
The iPad and Chromebook will provide our students the opportunity to practice skills needed for the 21st century.
