I have found that in order to meet my students' needs and keep a high level of engagement, I need to teach most of my instruction in small groups. In order to do that, I am always finding new ways for students to interact with the standards both in my teacher group or at other centers. I discovered these tools by attending the NETA (Nebraska Education Technology Association) and got so excited about the possibilities, I decided to submit a Donor's Choose.
The Osmo and the Kamigami robots are both tools that integrate 21st Century Skills with the standards that we work with everyday. It gives me the opportunity to "gamify" my lessons and allows students to work on multiple platforms by practice with the standards while working in a maker space and coding.
Coding is a skill that we have started in my classroom. Students love the sense of accomplishment they get from writing code and seeing it come to life. This will build in instant engagement as they practice the standards. These tools also allow me to use the technology we currently have in our building to the fullest potential.
I am truly excited about these possibilities and I know my students will be too.
