Starting the year off right is key to having a successful and thriving classroom.
As a theatre teacher, it is my job to make sure that students are comfortable exploring who they are through the outlet of theatre. Theatre teachers need the basics: markers, pens, pencils, paper, etc., in order for students with different processing needs to understand and access the material.
I will use these resources to bring my lesson plans to life and allow students to fully access the material. In one of our early lessons, students will be using markers and poster board to show examples of action and reaction in a scene. In another lesson, students will be sorting examples of literary, technical, and performance elements and using the glue sticks you provide to create detailed posters. Post-it notes will be used for various improv games to write down ideas for the setting, characters, or emotions. Although we use our bodies a lot in drama class, having these supplies will help enhance lessons and make learning stick.
With your help, I will be able to provide my students with the basic learning materials we need at the beginning of the year and help them start the year off right and introduce them to the magical world of theatre!
