I teach robotics at a high needs inclusion school. Many of my students are English Language Learners and robotics gives them an opportunity to build their communication skills in an interactive way. I teach robotics to three different grade levels. Students work in pairs or small groups and learn to collaborate in order to complete a challenge. In my class students are use technology to problem solve and express their ideas.
In robotics we use the engineering design process to complete our tasks. Through this process students learn to learn from their mistakes and be persistent. We use various products such as Lego Education kits, Beebots, iPads and more. With each new product students learn different skills. Robotics allows students to be creative and develope 21st century skills needed to be successful in their future careers.
