I love teaching my first graders how to read and developing those reading skills. I want them to have as much access as possible to books and materials that will motivate them to read and provide them with all the support they need. We do not have adequate funding for materials such as these. Our school is a high poverty school with over 80% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. The funds we have to purchase materials for classrooms has dwindled drastically over the years.
