The 80 Yamaha recorders we have requested will allow our students to enhance their reading skills in the classroom. During the 5th grade, students will perform in class as well as for audiences throughout the school year. They will accompany chorus and tone chime performances and perform in smaller ensembles. Our students in grades 3 and 4 will learn in smaller units of time. This will give students the time necessary to build the skills to play challenging music in grade 5.
Students will also have a basis for future musical experiences since they will gain experience in proper fingering and breathing techniques. Such experience will help them to continue their musical experience in middle school and high school . Reading music is a skill that will remain with them throughout their lives.
This project will aid students as they work together as a musical team. The power of music is strong when the act of music making is shared.
