Keeping a child's attention to school work can be challenging for any parent and/or teacher. Doing so with students with Autism, ADHD, or any other learning disability gaining focus proves to be even more challenging. Usually these students have lower muscle tone and need to move around more. Research has shown that sensory play stimulates the nerve connections in the brain, allowing children to complete more learning tasks. It builds language development, social play, cognitive skills, and fine and gross motor skills.
This project will allow my students the opportunity to complete more tasks through sensory activities and will also allow different seating options during reading, when they feel a change is needed.
