Roosevelt Community Education Center is a public school in Rockford, IL that serves the community's highest need students. Our students are at-risk of dropping out due to a variety of complex issues, and the need to fulfill adult responsibilities which most students do not have to contend. Students enroll here because they have chosen to persevere and overcome these obstacles to better their lives.
I am the MTSS Coach at Roosevelt. I am over attendance & academic interventions as well as all required testing. The key to successful interventions is getting to know the students individually & using a whole child approach. A student is going to have a hard time in school if their personal life is in crisis. I work with the student to find a solution that works for them so they can be successful. Even of that solution has nothing to do with academics directly. Once they are out of crisis mode, their academics improve.
