90% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school tries to supplement by sending snacks home for the weekend. However, this is not enough!
By filling a child's heart by loving them and their stomachs by feeding them, their minds will be open to learn.
Our grade level has a really late lunch.
Students are able to bring snacks from home to eat mid-morning, but most of my students do not have anything to bring. Those who do bring snacks cannot afford healthy ones. I want to build a cupboard of snacks, so that all students have the same access to nutritional food. Long days at school are already hard enough for nine-year olds without having to endure them while hungry!
