Social skills are something that many individuals with autism struggle with. Many of my students struggle to connect to others including their families and classroom peers. They have a difficult time working or playing with others both at home and in school.
Simple board games like LET S GO FISHIN, SMART SNACKS COUNTING COOKIES, LUCKY DUCKS and other grames will help my students connect to their peers in a way that can be generalized into their home with their parents and siblings! Once they learn to play appropriately in school they can utilize those skills in other settings. They also learn basic attending skills that generalize into other areas of their education such as sitting appropriately, following directions, and taking turns!
