The various seating elements will allow my students with special needs to become more comfortable, more focused, and will provide movement to students whose bodies crave this stimulation. Options such as sitting in a beanbag chair or using a wobble chair can help a body to calm down and allow a student to be ready for learning. Equally, some children need help in increasing activity and alertness for learning. Fidget objects made of different materials serve a similar purpose. They will help control the busy hands and feet throughout lessons.
Lastly, sight word activities will assist my students with special needs in reading and writing. Giving students a different view on a topic stimulates their minds and gets them excited to learn. I would like to provide my students with tools that aid in sustaining attention, academics, as well as, giving them responsibility in self-regulation. The same tools can help several children in the same classroom, depending on his or her sensory and attention needs.
